What We Do

Sky Pond's carbon sequestration efforts revolve primarily around well-balanced forest stewardship.

The following techniques are used to improve the carbon sequestration performance of Sky Pond's forestland:

• refraining from commercial timber cutting and sales of any type

• ongoing measurement of forest strength and health

• cultivation of trees to encourage diversity of species, and to increase the amount of carbon stored

• selective thinning to encourage overall growth, using low-impact forestry methods

• focused attention on both the understory and the canopy

Sky Pond may purchase additional land for forest improvement projects, and invest in efforts to raise awareness about improved forest management, greenhouse gases and carbon offsets.

Sky Pond donates 5% of its profits to the Natural Resources Defense Council.
